Your role
AI skills for sales professionals
Sales teams now use AI for account research, outreach drafts, call summaries, and proposal sections. These tasks used to fill evenings. The tools make the work faster, and they also make weak work faster. A rep can send a hundred generic emails in the time it once took to write ten. A summary can record a commitment the buyer never made.
This guide splits the difference between careless and careful use into the six skills Emeri measures. Each skill has its own page. It lists tasks from sales work, describes the skill at each band from E1 to E4, names the common mistakes, and works through one example.

Where AI shows up in the work
- Account and prospect research
- Company filings, press releases, job postings, and a prospect’s public profile, condensed before a call. The value depends on whether each finding is current and traceable to a source.
- Outreach and follow-up
- First-touch emails, sequence steps, and recap notes after a meeting. AI drafts these quickly. The skill is making each message specific to the buyer and accurate about what was said.
- Call notes and CRM records
- Turning a call transcript or rough notes into a structured CRM update. The record must reflect what the buyer said, not what the rep hoped to hear.
- Proposals, quotes, and forecasts
- Proposal sections, pricing summaries, and the weekly forecast note to a sales manager. Every figure and commitment in these documents must match the approved source.

What AI skills do sales professionals need?
Emeri measures six: asking well, giving good context, checking the work, putting it together into workflows, getting real work done, and keeping it safe. In sales, checking the work and keeping it safe carry extra weight. AI output often reaches the buyer directly, and sales teams hold personal data and confidential pricing.
Will AI replace sales professionals?
Emeri does not forecast what will happen to any job. What we can describe is how AI changes which parts of sales work take time. Research and first drafts are faster. Understanding a buyer, judging a deal, and keeping commitments accurate still sit with the person. Those are the skills these guides and the Emeri assessment focus on.
How can I tell what level my AI skills are at?
Compare the band descriptions on each skill page with how you work today. For a measured result, take the free Emeri check. It takes about fifteen minutes and gives an indicative band across all six skills.
Are these example tasks from the Emeri exam?
No. We wrote these sales tasks to illustrate each skill, and none of them appears on the exam. The certification draws on a separate set of scenarios. Graders score those scenarios against the same six skills.
