Your role
AI skills for operations and project managers
Operations and project work runs on documents. Plans, meeting notes, status reports, procedures, and spreadsheets pass between teams every day. AI now drafts many of them. The difference between people shows up in what happens next. Some send a tidy document with a wrong date in it. Others send one that matches the source, names the owners, and leaves nothing confidential behind in a tool it should not be in.
Emeri measures six skills, and this guide gives one page to each. A page covers three tasks from operations and project work and a ladder of four bands, E1 to E4. It also lists three common mistakes in the role and walks through one task done two ways.

Where AI shows up in the work
- Plans and timelines
- Project plans, work breakdowns, milestone schedules, and dependency lists. AI can structure a plan in minutes. It does not know your team’s capacity or your fixed dates.
- Meetings and handoffs
- Turning meeting notes into decisions and action items, and writing handoff documents between teams. The risk is an action item with no owner, or a decision the meeting never made.
- Process documentation
- Standard operating procedures, checklists, onboarding guides, and runbooks. AI writes clean steps. Someone who does the work still has to confirm the steps match what happens on the floor.
- Analysis and reporting
- Spreadsheet analysis, vendor comparisons, risk registers, and recurring reports. Every figure in the output has to match the source data, and every comparison has to use the same terms.

What AI skills do operations and project managers need?
The Emeri assessment covers six skills: asking well, giving good context, checking the work, putting it together, getting real work done, and keeping it safe. Operations and project managers lean hardest on checking and on putting it together. One wrong date or figure reaches several teams at once. Much of the work also repeats every week or month.
Will AI replace operations and project managers?
Emeri does not forecast the future of any job. AI does change where the hours go in operations and project work. Drafting plans, summaries, and reports now takes less time. Setting priorities, agreeing commitments between teams, and deciding matters that affect people remain the manager’s work. The guides and the Emeri assessment measure that judgment.
How can I tell what level my AI skills are at?
Start with the four bands written out on each skill page and find the one closest to your current habits. For a measured answer, take the free Emeri check. It takes about fifteen minutes and returns an indicative band for each of the six skills.
Are these example tasks from the Emeri exam?
No. Every task in this guide was written to illustrate the skills, and none appears in the exam. The certification draws on a separate set of scenarios, scored on the same six skills.
