E4 Exceptional

Emeri band · where you stand

E4 · Exceptional

Sets the standard others learn from. Fluent across every competency, deliberate about where AI helps and where it does not, and consistently excellent under pressure. Exceptional.
The definition of E4 in the Emeri Standard

E4 is the top band on the Emeri scale. Someone at E4 is fluent in all six skills and stays excellent when the work is hard, urgent, or high-stakes. They are as deliberate about where AI should not be used as about where it should.

The mark of E4 is that other people learn from it. Templates, workflows, and review practices written at E4 become the way a team works.

E4 in each of the six skills

Asking well
Reusable request templates are written for recurring team work, with fields for the parts that change. The choice between one precise request and a short back-and-forth is made deliberately.
Checking the work
Review steps are designed, not improvised, and other people use them. Failure modes specific to a task are anticipated before the output arrives.
Putting it together
Workflows are built for a team, not only for one person. They include the points where a human must review, and they are revised when tools change.
Getting real work done
High-stakes work is delivered with AI under real time pressure, without a drop in quality. Where AI would make the work worse, it is left out.
Giving good context
Shared context, such as style guides, reference packs, and data notes, is maintained so that everyone on a team starts from the same background.
Keeping it safe
The rules for safe use are set or shaped for a team. Judgment about data, intellectual property, and decision boundaries holds under pressure and is explained to others.

Questions

How common is E4?

Emeri does not publish a share for each band. The scale is built so that E4 describes consistent excellence in every skill, which is a high bar by design.

Is there a band above E4?

No. E4 is the top of the scale. The standard is versioned, and a later version may raise what each band asks for. Emeri will not lower an honestly earned grade when that happens.

Is an E4 from the free check the same as a certified E4?

No. The free check gives an estimated band from multiple-choice questions. A certified band comes from the paid exam, which adds open-ended scenarios graded against published rubrics.
